Theme song from the original "Star Trek"

J and B's Enterprizing Kirk

September 9, 1989 - December 17, 1997

"Kirk" is very near and dear to our hearts. He is our first born Shar-Pei. We knew very little about the dam but the father sired many champions. We know Kirk got those ears from somewhere on his mother's side. Kirk has helped us learn the importance of learning all there is to know about the Chinese Shar-Pei. We stopped breeding and took 4 years off to learn as much as we could, research pedigrees and obtain quality dogs for our foundation breeding stock.

Kirk was named after Star Trek's "Captain Kirk" but with those ears he should have been named "Mr. Spock". He also turned out to be the "Hindenburg" rather than the sleek star-ship "Enterprize".

Kirk turned 8 years old on 9/9/97. He is currently in great health. He was neutered at 6 months old. He was diagnosed with Lyme disease back in 1991 but fully recovered. His personality is the best I've seen in any dog of any breed. His tail is constantly wagging. His vet calls him "Happy Boy". He is also our 'watch dog' - he can spot a deer at dusk from 200 feet away. At dusk every night he sits guard in the window. When he spots the deer coming out of the woods, he make all kinds of whiney, shrilly, little, howling type noises to let us know they are there.

It is with deep sorrow we update this page with the picture of Kirk, on the day of his birth, as a tribute him, on the day of his sudden death.

Our hearts are breaking; We will love you forever and see you at the Rainbow Bridge.
